Sting Talks About Discontinuing the Use of Steroids Early In His Career

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

Sting recently spoke to Matt Tuthill of Muscle & Fitness Magazine. Here are some highlights from the interview.

On his appearance in the direct to dvd Christian movie Revelation Road: My character is a bad guy in a biker gang. Brian is the leader of the gang and we’re creating havoc everywhere we go. I’m a guy who’s had the short end of the stick his entire life so I end up in a biker gang. This is the story of the end times, a story of how God is trying to grab hold of each one of us and get through to us. The reason why I wanted to do it is because of the message. It’s not just an action movie. It’s a movie with a message. It’s something beyond pro wrestling and beyond entertainment, and beyond this life.

His training Regiment in his prime: I never did the powerlifting thing, but the goal was to lift heavy. Four plates squatting for reps – 4-5, 8-10, 315 for 20, 225 for 50 – leg extensions, leg curls and that’s how we trained every single week. On the bench , my best was 435 – I was younger and I was on the gas, too. There were guys who weighed a lot less than I did who could easily do that. But I didn’t really train for power or strength. I trained for size. That’s all I was training for. My knees are arthritic now. I don’t have a whole lot of flexibility left. Thankfully, I got smart somehow or another in 1990 and stopped taking steroids – totally stopped. A lot of the guys I ran with all those years continued to take steroids year after year – those guys are having their knees and their hips replaced. I’m not saying everybody who gets their knees and their hips replaced took steroids. I just noticed that the guys who did that were too big, too bulky, too heavy, and the body couldn’t handle it and it took its toll. So that was my one saving grace, but I would train differently now. I’m actually doing pretty good for a guy my age – I just turned 54 – and I’m still hanging in there. I can move a little bit in the ring. I can’t do half of what I used to be able to do, but I get around.

Toughest guys to get in the ring with: The best and most memorable feuds were with Rick and Hulk Hogan. One of the toughest opponents was Kurt Angle. He’s an Olympic gold medalist and they call him “the Wrestling Machine” and that’s exactly what he is. His pace and work ethic in the ring is top notch. There’s nothing he can’t do… Lex Luger, aesthetically he trained to look good like I was doing, but he had freakish strength as well. I saw him squat 500 easily. I saw him bench 405 for reps. It was easy for him. I saw him incline 405. He was just a really strong guy.

On staying in the ring at the age of 54: I’ve learned not to give a time. I can’t go on wrestling much longer. I’m taking it, literally, one month at a time. I’m under contract until January of next year, so we’ll see what’s happening. I do want to do more movies. I’m looking at a few different things, reality shows being one of them. I’m just trying to move onto the next season of my life. As far as wrestling goes, I’ve stayed away from the creative part of it all these years, I just don’t want to sit in on the meetings and babysit wrestlers and personalities and all that. But, there are things I’d like to see happen in pro wrestling and I may try to make it materialize. I don’t know.

Brock Lesnar’s Return Not Scripted, Stephanie McMahon’s Reason for Confronting Divas, More

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

WFTV 9 in Florida reports that the Central Florida Sports Commission is hoping to bring major sporting events like WWE’s WrestleMania and Royal Rumble to the area between now and 2019. The CFSC is asking Orange County officials for money to help bring in the events.

- As seen on Monday’s RAW, Stephanie McMahon confronted Kaitlyn and the other Divas on the stage and told them to never interrupt her again. This was apparently a play off a real-life situation that happened backstage recently where someone interrupted Stephanie and caused a bit of a scene.

- Brock Lesnar reportedly did not arrive in the arena for Monday’s RAW until around 9:30pm. Lesnar returning to take out CM Punk was not in the final RAW script and few people knew he was returning.

Match Nixed at SmackDown Tapings This Week

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

After advertising Dean Ambrose vs. Daniel Bryan as this week’s SmackDown main event, WWE changed plans at last night’s tapings and did Bryan vs. Randy Orton as the main event, likely because of the way their match ended on Monday.

WWE taped these matches last night in Dayton to air on Friday’s show:

* Wade Barrett vs. Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Title

* Chris Jericho vs. Alberto Del Rio

* Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes

* Natalya vs. AJ Lee

* Christian vs. Drew McIntyre

* Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton

Drama Expected on Total Divas Show, Low Attendance at Last Night’s WWE Tapings, Lena Yada

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

Former WWE Diva Lena Yada and her husband, Disturbed frontman David Draiman, are expecting their first child early next year. Here she is with Tara at Tara’s Squared Circle restaurant in Chicago:

- Natalya was asked by a fan on Twitter if there will be drama between the Divas on WWE’s new Total Divas show. She replied:

“That’s an understatement.”

- There were low attendance issues at last night’s WWE TV tapings in Dayton, Ohio. Several parts of the arena were tarped off. The camera side was full to the top of the arena but the opposite side had only three rows full. WWE reportedly tried a “buy one get one free” ticket sale over the weekend.

“The lower you fall, the higher you’ll fly. Day #3 on my journey to reclaim what is mine. #Payback #FightClub”

- WWE will return to Las Vegas for a SmackDown taping at the Thomas & Mack Center on August 27th.

- The dark main event after last night’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Dayton, Ohio saw Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and Sheamus defeat The Shield by DQ.

Jim Ross Blogs on Mark Henry’s Retirement Segment on Raw & More

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with another blog on jrsbarbq.com. Here are highlights from this entry:

- Impressed with Christian’s performance after such a long layoff. Very proud of being the guy who signed both Christian and Edge and watching them develop into excellent in ring talents but, more importantly, even better men. Not sure how much longer Christian intends to perform but I’m hopeful that he gets involved into something viable from a creative standpoint before he says adios whenever that may be.

- Unfortunate that Daniel Bryan got dinged up in his match with Randy Orton. Bryan is on a roll and there is no one hotter or with more momentum in WWE than Bryan. For young talents under six feet tall, there is no one better to study than Daniel Bryan. To further that thought, that concept also works well for those over 6 feet. Or 7 feet.

- Curious to see how Antonio Cesaro is monetized with Zeb Colter. I’m a big Cesaro fan and perhaps he and Jack Swagger can form a viable, serious tag team. Without question, Zeb is a skilled talker. There’s no viable reason that I can see that these three can’t be money ball players in WWE.

- The Mark Henry ‘retirement’ segment was Monday Night RAW gold and will go down in history as one of the all time, great RAW moments as far as I’m concerned. I’ve see a few in my time for ther record. The TV viewer’s perception of any storyline or performance is dependent solely on the execution by the talent. Great execution can overcome mediocre material and great execution can make good material great and great creative unforgettable.

Mark Henry’s performance Monday night will be remembered for years and was, without question, Mark’s finest hour since we signed him in 1995.

- The Punk/Heyman dynamic has long legs and the verbal presentation of their issues should be priceless. Plus, this matter provides young, Curtis Axel an opportunity for more ‘rubs’ with established stars.

WWE Issues Statement on Brother Killing Sister with Wrestling Moves

by linda whitalker on June 19, 2013

Five-year old Viloude Louis was killed by her 13 year old brother after he allegedly used wrestling moves that he learned from TV. The 13 year old told police that he was wrestling with the victim and used “WWE” style wrestling moves.

Viloude’s brother, Devalon Armstrong, allegedly slammed his sister onto a bed and beat her. She suffered multiple injuries including broken ribs, internal bleeding and lacerations of the liver. The boy called police after his sister stopped breathing. Paramedics were teaching him over the phone how to use CPR to keep her alive but she died shortly after police arrived and paramedics were unable to revive her.

Devalon has been charged with second degree murder.

WWE issued a statement on the incident:

“The death of Viloude Louis is a tragedy, and our condolences go out to her family.

WWE urges restraint in reporting this unfortunate incident as if it were the result of a WWE wrestling move. As in similar cases, criminal intent to harm and a lack of parental supervision have been the factors resulting in a tragic death.

Authorities have already charged the accused with second degree murder and determined that this was not an accidental death due to a wrestling move.”

Feud Between Ryback & John Cena Not Finished Yet , Jeff Hardy Working Through Back Issues?

by linda whitalker on June 18, 2013

Feud Between Ryback & John Cena Not Finished Yet , Jeff Hardy Working Through Back Issues?

by linda whital John Cena vs. Ryback is being advertised locally for Raw tapings in July as the dark match main event. This could be an indication that their feud will continue.

- Jeff Hardy may be battling back issues following a nasty bump he took during at the previous Impact Wrestling tapings according to a report by TNA Insider.

Following Hardy’s match against Ken Anderson at the Basebrawl event in Lexington, Kentucky, Hardy was given an ice pack immediately by ringside trainers to put on his lower back.

Correspondents from the event also noted that Hardy used his twist of fate maneuver rather then the Swanton Bomb finisher, which could also indicate that his lower back is far from 100 percent right now.

Undertaker & Kane Teaming Up at Summerslam, AJ Lee Says She’s More Scarier Then Stephanie, Rock’s Action Figure

by linda whitalker on June 18, 2013

WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee tweeted to Stephanie McMahon after their segment on RAW last night:

“Hey @StephMcMahon , ya wanna know something? You’re pretty scary. But I’m scarier. Until we meet again, Boss Lady.”

- As seen at WWE’s Payback pay-per-view, WWE had United States Champion Dean Ambrose mock The Undertaker and attempt his Old School move. There were also mentions by the announcers on the pay-per-view and last night’s RAW. This is all being done for a potential Kane and The Undertaker vs. The Shield feud for SummerSlam. There’s actually a belief within WWE, among some people, that Taker will decide to work the match.

No Plans to Heel Turn Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler to Win MITB Again, More

by linda whitalker on June 18, 2013

Despite recent reports and the match against babyface CM Punk in Chicago, word coming out of Payback over the weekend is that WWE has no plans on turning Chris Jericho heel.

- Dolph Ziggler is 100% cleared to wrestle and WWE’s reports on their website yesterday were for storyline purposes. WWE officials feel that based on the reaction he gets from fans, Ziggler is better off as a babyface right now. There was talk of having him win a briefcase at Money in the Bank and cash it in to face Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam.

- WWE held an anti-bullying rally in Chicago last Friday with Josh Mathews, Alicia Fox, Hornswoggle and Leslie David Baker of “The Office” fame. Here is a photo:

- Zack Ryder continued to express frustration during last night’s RAW. He tweeted:

“#Raw. So @johncena said that he had a horrible 2012. Did he see mine? Or my 2013?”

- Cameron and Naomi worked as heels for their match against Layla and Natalya during last night’s WWE Superstars tapings. No word yet if this is a permanent turn.

Edge Recalls Working at a Bar as a Underage Bouncer

by linda whitalker on June 17, 2013

Former WWE Superstar Edge spoke to Paul Mazeby of the When We Were Bouncers Facebook page about his experiences as a bouncer, prior to becoming a pro wrestler.

“I started bouncing at 17 years old at a franchise place called O’Toole’s in my hometown of Orangeville. Of course it was highly illegal for me to be doing that, but even at that age I was about 6’4” and 220, so because they were short on bouncers, I got the job.

The thing with Orangeville was that, even though it was just a small town of about 15000 people, it was surrounded by a bunch of farming communities whose farm boys would come into town with their shit-kickers on when they wanted to drink. And when the drinking started, all the different rivalries from all the different towns would flare up.

The bouncing crew included friends of mine named Doug Childs and Kelly McGoogan, as well as the legendary Burt the Hurt. Burt was a guy I knew from the wrestling business, since we were both training to be wrestlers at Sully’s Gym in Toronto. In his day job he was a schoolteacher, but he was also legally blind so how he got a license, I have no idea. That dude was INSANE — he would only answer if you called him by his full name of “Burt the Hurt”, and he spoke about himself in the third person way before The Rock ever did. I liked to call him “The Innovator of Eccentricity” because he always talked as if he was cutting a wrestling promo, even when there were no cameras around and he didn’t think anybody was listening. Burt was also strong as a bull — squat, deadlift, pick up cars, whatever. Total freak — and batshit crazy.

Our crew was actually well-hired, because with me being from town and every other guy being from one of the neighboring towns, any time things got out of hand, the odds were good that at least one of us would know at least one of the guys in the fight and have a chance at talking them down.

So one night we were all at work, and it was one of those times where the place was filled with these big, athletic farm guys who play hockey, and the air was thick with testosterone and you could just tell that something was gonna happen. Adding to the potential for disaster was that Jay The Dick [Jay Reso aka “Christian”, Copeland’s tag team partner and best friend] was also in the club, because there was really nowhere else to hang out in Orangeville.

I can’t even remember what started it all. I just remember looking at the back corner and seeing fists start flying back there, and then suddenly it was like a tsunami of fists rolling toward us as more and more people got involved. By the time the wave crashed into us, there were at least thirty people fighting, which meant we could absolutely forget about stopping it. We just had to pick off guys one at a time, try to control it.

The first guy I grabbed started swinging at me, so I rammed him up against a support pillar to get a good hold of him, and then began dragging him out. But a buddy of his came up from behind me and grabbed me in a chokehold! So now I’m not only fending off the choke, but the guy I had against the pillar is now loose and he’s getting ready to dial me in.

We were all standing beside this kind of wooden barrier that ran around the dance floor, maybe four feet high and eighteen inches thick, and just as I’m thinking I’m finished, out of nowhere I see The Dick running along the top of it. So I pushed backward and slammed the guy behind me into a wall, which got me loose just as The Dick launched himself into the air. A moment later — BOOM! — he hit the guy in front of me with a picture-perfect cross body block to the back! I swear, you’ve never seen a better one in any wrestling ring than the one that The Dick pulled off that night — slammed the guy face-first right into the ground!

To the best of my knowledge, that was the first-ever successful cross body block to be pulled off in a street fight — and don’t even talk to me about that weak shit that [Chris] Jericho tried in Calgary, because it totally doesn’t count if you don’t connect!

Thankfully, the fight didn’t last much longer and we all came out of it more or less unscathed. If you don’t count having to listen to The Dick brag about himself for weeks afterward, that is.”

*********

“If I fail to remember O’Toole’s for any other reason, I will always remember it for the night that they featured a male strip show. I was freaking out that I had to work that night, because I’d barely been to a female strip club at that point, so I had no idea what the deal was gonna be.

The strippers arrived shortly after my shift started, and because it was the nineties, they were all mulletted out like crazy — not that I can say anything about it since I was rockin’ the same thing, plus my uniform was cowboy boots, jeans, and a white denim shirt, so I wasn’t setting a very high fashion precedent.

After the show began, I stayed on the front door and tried to look into the club as little as possible. But it was still my job to scan the room from time to time, and every time I did, it was like, “Whoa, shit, there’s a dick”. I hadn’t realized that these guys were actually gonna get their shit right in the girls’ faces and just shake it! I don’t know if that was legal or not, but I can tell you it was sure goin’ on.

Eventually I had to use the staff washroom, which was a tiny, single-user deal at the back. As I made my way back there I tried to keep my eyes to the floor, but it was like walking through dick land-mines the whole way! When I finally got to the back I let out a huge sigh of relief, but that only lasted a couple of seconds before I opened the unlocked bathroom door and found one of the peelers standing there wearing nothing but a cock ring! Porn magazine in one hand, junk in the other, and going to TOWN on himself trying to get his shit hard!

At a young and impressionable 17 years old, I didn’t want to know about cock-rings — what they were, what they were for, the whole process of getting ‘em on, I didn’t wanna know any of that. And I especially didn’t want to be enlightened by a guy who was only too eager to explain it all while whacking his meat!

So yeah… I witnessed that. And even with all the years that passed and all the concussions I’ve suffered since then, I’ve still never found a way to un-know it.”

Michael Cole Talks About Vince McMahon Ear Bashing People

by linda whitalker on June 17, 2013

Michael Cole recently spoke with the folks at Wrestling101. Here are some highlights:

What have been some of your highlights during your time with WWE?

My career was made at the beginning thanks to Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chyna and Rick Rude, if it wasn’t for D-Generation X who knows if I would’ve ever been discovered to become the personality that I am today, with those guys we had so much fun together and I become their foil.

From there I went onto SmackDown and I was there for ten years straight before I moved to Raw and that was obviously a huge experience for me. Then moving to Monday Night Raw was probably the biggest moment of my career. Finally being asked to get in the ring and have Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler’s only WrestleMania match was a complete honour, I was completely humbled by that and I had a lot of fun doing it.

I like being a bad guy but now I’m a good guy again and it’s all just so much fun, you’re able to reinvent your character so much in this business and that’s why I enjoy it so much.

You were doing commentary on Raw when Jerry Lawler had a heart attack, what instincts kicked in when that incident happened?

My news instincts kicked in, it was just one of those things where Jerry had a heart attack next to me and being a news reporter kicked in. I had to report what was going on in the ring, then I had to report what was going on with Jerry, it was all instinct, there was nothing premeditated about it.

Jerry had a match that night but it was business as usual, he came back and went to work nothing changed. Whatever match it was we were calling, I thought he was snoring and I turned around to look at him and he was passed out on the table and we went from there. It was a surreal thing and I’ve never watched that moment back, I don’t want to but I’ll never forget it for the rest of my life. He was passed out under the table and luckily doc Sampson was three feet away and they got to him quickly and got his heart going again but it was a bizarre time, I didn’t know for the last hour of the show if I was going to have to report that Jerry had passed away or if he was surviving and luckily we got the news right as we were going off the air that he was surviving, it was a really tough time.

Obviously it all came out the way we wanted it to, and it is great having Jerry back on the commentary table. It changed me personally but it also changed me professionally because at that point I became a babyface again and I think for the best, I was a bad guy for a while but it was time to change. Obviously Jerry’s heart attack changed history as we look at it.

What is Vince McMahon like as a boss?

He is wonderful, he’s hard but he is a genius with what we do as a company. If you can understand how to learn from him, here is a guy that is a billionaire and he’s built the wrestling business to where it is today but he still goes out and puts himself in situations, embarrassing situations for the good of the company.

That’s why when I did my role as a heel for a few years and all the things I did to Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, I did that with Vince in mind. Vince is the owner of the company but he has had his head shoved up Big Shows rear-end, had his head shaved bald at WrestleMania, all the stuff he did over the years I thought if my boss could do that, I could do that.

He is one of my hero’s in this business and even in life, I’ve grown up in this business, I’ve spent 16-years here, I started as a fairly young kid, I’ve raised my family being a part of the WWE. Vince is like a second father to me and he has helped me throughout my career and I hope to spend the rest of my career with the guy, he’s just been an unbelievable mentor.

Have you ever had an ear bashing from Vince?

(Laughs) Yeah it happens every week, the thing is you can’t take it personally. Vince is very obsessive about his product because he should be, he has built the WWE into a global phenomenon, this is his baby and he acts that way because he wants his product to be the best.

You have to understand it’s not a personal attack, it’s him wanting his product to be the best in the world and once you can understand that you’re going to be better than ever and you’ve got to understand it’s a way to motivate you.

Newspaper Profiles CM Punk’s Stint with Backyard Wrestling Promotion

by linda whitalker on June 16, 2013

Hyping CM Punk’s much-anticipated return to the squared circle on Sunday night at WWE Payback, the Chicago Tribune has published an article profiling his first wrestling venture; a stint in the late 1990′s for a backyard wrestling promotion called Lunatic Wrestling Federation. The organization is where the WWE Superstar debuted his CM Punk persona.

The head of the promotion, Larry Statkus, who goes under the name “Billy Whack,” noted to the publication that he met Punk and his older brother Mike at a comic book store where Statkus worked. Punk and his older brother subsequently joined the promotion as wrestlers, but the brother relationship dissolved after he discovered that Mike had embezzled thousands of dollars from the small company, causing them to become estranged. Punk told the Tribune last year, “the only thing my brother ever did to me was steal a (crap) load of money from me.”

When WWE released the CM Punk – Best in the World DVD and Blu-ray last year, Statkus was concerned that Punk would disparage Lunatic Wrestling Federation. However, that was not the case.

“He was very positive about LWF stuff,” said Statkus.

In recent years, Statkus has attempted to reach out to Punk through social media network Twitter, but has not heard back. Nonetheless, he is happy for his former colleague’s success.

“I honestly think his promos are fantastic. His wrestling is fantastic. It’s great. It’s just bittersweet,” Statkus said. “You want to be proud but you can’t talk to the guy anymore.”

According to the article, a WWE spokesperson said Punk could not be reached for comment on Statkus.

WWE SmackDown Report – 6/14/13

by linda whitalker on June 15, 2013

Aksana runs to the back and Kaitlyn is in the ring and she looks like she is going to have a nervous breakdown.

Did you know that there is a Three Stages of Hell Match on Sunday? How about a video package.

Match Number Four (this time I mean it): Curtis Axel (with Paul Heyman) versus Wade Barrett

10:16 Before the match starts, Wade tells Curtis that he wants to chat businessman to businessman with Paul Heyman. He asks Paul why would they have this match. He could injure Curtis tonight and then he could not wrestle for the title on Sunday. There is a small chance Curtis could injure him. Would it make business sense to leave everything until Sunday.

Before Paul can say anything, Miz interrupts. He throws out a series of reallys. They don’t want to fight tonight? What would they rather do? Go to Starbucks? Go on Dancing with the Stars as a couple? People want to see them fight.

They lock up and go around the ring. Curtis with kicks to Barrett followed by forearms. Barrett with a boot and knees to Curtis’ head. Barrett with a short arm clothesline for a near fall. Curtis with a hurdle followed by a running drop kick for a near fall. Barrett with a back heel kick and Curtis falls to the floor, in front of Miz.

Barrett with a forearm in front of Miz. Axel sends Barrett head first into the ring steps. Curtis with a forearm to Miz when Barrett moves. Barrett tries to reenter the ring but Axel with a snap swinging neck breaker for the three count.

Winner: Curtis Axel

After the match, Miz gives Axel the Skull Crushing Finale.

It is time for another Wyatt Family video.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Five: Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns versus Daniel Bryan, Kane, and Randy Orton

Bryan with kicks to the chest and Kane is tagged in. Bryan with a snap mare and Kane with a drop kick for a near fall. Kane with a suplex for a near fall.

Ambrose tags in and he punches Kane but Kane with a big boot to Ambrose. Orton tags in and he kicks Ambrose. Orton with punches and head butts in the corner followed by a European uppercut. Orton with head butts and a clothesline in the corner. Orton with a suplex and Bryan is tagged in. Bryan with kicks to the chest followed by a front face lock.

Reigns tags in and he punches Bryan. Reigns with a slam and he gets a near fall. Rollins tags in and he kicks Bryan in the chest. Rollins with elbows to the head. Rollins sends Bryan into the turnbuckles and Ambrose tags back in and he punches Bryan. Ambrose with a snap elbow drop for a near fall. Ambrose with a boot to the abdomen and he applies a chin lock while trapping the legs and then he applies a Dragon sleeper.

Bryan with knees to escape and he punches Ambrose. Ambrose with a knee to the midsection but Bryan with a knee of his own. Orton tags in and he connects with two clothesline and then he goes after the Shield on the apron. Orton avoids a clothesline and he gives Ambrose a power slam. Rollins tries to interfere and he gets a power slam for his troubles.

Orton sends Ambrose to the apron for the IEDDT but he kicks Rollins and he tries for a double IEDDT but Ambrose escapes and he drops Orton on the top rope and then Rollins with an enzuigiri and Ambrose gets a near fall.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ambrose with a reverse chin lock. Orton with a punch but Ambrose with a knee and short arm clothesline for a near fall. Ambrose works on the fingers and then he rakes the face. Reigns tags in and he connects with head butts and then he kicks Orton. Orton punches Reigns but Reigns with a knee and he gets Orton on his shoulders but Randy escapes and he hits a back breaker and both men are down.

Reigns misses a shoulder in the corner and he hits the post. Ambrose and Kane tag in and Kane with punches. Kane sends Ambrose into the turnbuckles and then he hits a power slam for a near fall. Kane with an Irish whip and clothesline into the corner. Kane does it again and he adds the side slam for a near fall. Kane goes up top but he misses the clothesline. Ambrose with a running drop kick but Bryan tags in and hits a missile drop kick that sends Ambrose into his corner. Rollins tags in and goes for a springboard move but Bryan with a drop kick to stop Rollins.

Bryan with a drop kick that knocks Reigns off the apron and then Bryan with a suicide dive onto Rollins and Reigns. Bryan with the running drop kick into the corner and then he hits another one on Rollins for a near fall.

Bryan with kicks to the chest and he sets for the round kick but he sees Reigns trying to interfere so he kicks Roman in the head. Bryan with the round kick to Rollins and Daniel gets a near fall. Vince’s Backstage Reaction to Low Ratings, Rey Mysterio’s Return Pushed Back, Big Show Note

by linda whitalker on June 13, 2013

Big Show is out with an injury. He’s expected back in mid-July.

- After Rey Mysterio’s most recent visit to doctors in Florida, his return to the ring has been pushed back to early August. There’s talk of having him feud with Dean Ambrose or Jack Swagger.

- When the low RAW rating came in two weeks ago after going head to head with game 7 of the NBA Playoffs, there was a lot of fear within WWE creative. Most everyone fears that their job isn’t safe and word is that Vince McMahon was blaming WWE’s product more than the NBA game as he didn’t understand how big of a draw the Miami Heat are and figured Indiana is isn’t a major market so the Pacers weren’t a very popular team.

Backstage News on How WWE Deals with Concussions Now, Title Match for Uso’s Nixed, More

Yoshi Tatsu tweeted the following during Tuesday’s SmackDown tapings:

“I was involved a strange incident in the locker room tonight! I’ll beat the criminal when I find out!”

- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan was scheduled for WWE Payback at one point. The Usos vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns for the WWE Tag Team Titles was also scheduled. Those plans changed sometime in the last week and a half, and now we have Orton and Bryan teaming to face Rollins and Reigns.

- WWE has a new way of dealing with concussions. If a wrestler shows indications of a concussion, or is diagnosed with one, they are immediately pulled from the ring and can’t return until they pass the Impact testing. In the case of talents who have passed the test but aren’t put back in the ring to wrestle, it’s because they also have to show no signs of any post-concussion syndrome, plus be able to engage in physical contact activity without any signs of headache, fogginess or nausea. A talent must pass Impact testing, exertion tests and have one of WWE’s doctors clear them before they return.

Michael Cole Says CM Punk vs Chris Jericho Will Be Match of the Night at Payback PPV

by linda whitalker on June 10, 2013
Michael Cole has a new blog over on LayfieldReport.com. Here are some highlights:
- A little more than 3 weeks away from the visit to bermuda for my wife and I. We are hoping to meet some of these young men from the rugby program. John and I are gearing up for the WORLD CUP MARLIN FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP on July 4th. Organizers claim registration is at its highest ever! This one day, worldwide event, will feature boats fishing in marlin hotspots around the globe. Lines go in the water at 8:30am in whatever time zone your are in and must be out by 4:30pm. Our team will be aboard the Paradise One, with the same crew that led john to a second place finish last year!
- Our weight loss challenge has three weeks remaining! I have one pound to lose and John has nine to shed. I have dropped 19 pounds to 205. But I don’t plan on stopping. I need to be in peak shape for our climb in 9 weeks of Middle Palisades Mountain in California. Where as John has climbed top peaks before, Frenchy (our audio guy for our radio show and WWE events) and I have never traversed a 14′er! (14,050 feet to be exact). I hope to lose another 20 pounds before the climb, but success will all be determined on how we handle the altitude and how our body responds to the thin air (it’s hard to train for altitude at sea level in McAllen). If we conquer this peak, more are definitely in our future (or my wife will be upset if all the gear I just bought joins all my other stuff in my “hobby” or “phase” room).
- I am getting excited for our brand new Pay per View known as “Payback” in the great wresting town of Chicago on Sunday Night June 16th. The All State Arena is one of the best venues we play. The WWE Championship match of John Cena versus Ryback in a 3 stages of Hell match will be intriguing, especially the way Ryback is coming around as a performer. My personal favorite however will be Chris Jericho versus CM Punk and I expect it to be the match of the night. Two of the all-time greats with such an awesome story to tell. Punk returning to the ring in his hometown for his first match since the incredible bout with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Jericho with a score to settle with Punk after last year’s great rivalry. This is going to be so great and I have the absolute honor and privilege to sit at ringside and call all the action. It is the
opportunity to call bouts like these that we bust our rear ends all year!

Chris Sabin on Fear of Possibility Getting Injured Again

by linda whitalker on June 9, 2013
Chris Sabin was interviewed by Ryan Rider of CJAD.com. Here are some highlights.
On his return to TNA following his injuries: I’m just happy to be back. It was really intriguing to sit at home injured and see Austin Aries make that rule that you can trade in the X Division Title for a world title shot. That gave me a lot of motivation.
Fears of getting injured again: There’s always that voice in the back of your mind. I wasn’t expecting to get injured the first time or the second time. I’m going to try to ignore that voice in my head that says ‘what if?’. You just kind of have to do whatever you can and bury that voice in your head. I gotta watch out for my health. I’ll always try to do the best I can to put on the most entertaining match for the fans but first and foremost, I gotta protect myself.
Being in TNA since March 2003: Literally, I spent a third of my life in TNA. When I first started for the company it was so small, we were just doing Nashville and weekly PPVs. The company has grown and grown and grown. I like to reflect that, and hopefully I’ve grown as a person and as a wrestler. I plan on continuing to become a better wrestler.
World Title aspirations: When your dream is to become a wrestler and it’s taken away for two years with two knee surgeries, you sit at home and reflect. You think about things, think about your life. I didn’t do this to go half way; I did this to go all the way. I did this to become the best. And that will always remain my goal.

Jesse Sorensen Talks About Being Paralyzed for Two Days Following Injury

by linda whitalker on June 9, 2013
Jesse Sorensen was interviewed by Ryan Rider of CJAD.com. Here are some highlights.
On his neck injury: When I first got hurt, I had no feeling from the neck down so it was very scary. I thought I was the next Christopher Reeves. I was completely paralyzed for two days and told I would never move again, never wrestle again. I’m very blessed.
On his recovery following the injury: Right after I got out of the ICU, I had to sit in a neck brace for three months then I had six months of rehab to strengthen my neck and try to get back in the gym. Now I’m fully back in the gym and everything’s going good. I actually have my first bodybuilding show in October in Tampa.
Sorensen on returning to the ring: My passion for the business – I love this business. It’s my dream, always has been and it’s really what I wanted to do. So many say it was a job and now you’re done with it and tell me to find something else to do. But when it’s your passion, it’s all I think about is getting back in the ring. As of right now, it’s not really up to me [when to return]. I want to focus on the bodybuilding show for a little while. But I would like to hopefully return before the end of 2013.

Randy Orton Reveals on How Long He Plans to Wrestle

by linda whitalker on June 8, 2013
Randy Orton has recently been interviewed. Here are some highlights.
What he thinks are the differences with himself between when he first started wrestling and now: “I guess when I started I wasn’t as responsible as I am now. I’m a father now and I think with that came a lot of that responsibility. I have a family to take care of and a family to look out for. So, I have to put them first. Before I was married, before I became a father, I really thought I was invincible, like I think most guys in their early twenties are. A couple humbling experiences and here I am. I think the biggest difference is that I’m a little bit more mature. Still a kid at heart, but I think twice before I make every decision now. I know that every decision I make could impact my daughter.”
Does he ever travel with his family to wrestling shows in an RV: “Well yeah. It’s actually not an RV. They call them Star Coaches. It’s like a fifty foot bus. It’s got a kitchen and a bunk and a king size bed in the back with wifi and a satellite. After being on the road a decade driving 800, 1000 miles a week, I thought now that I can afford it, I’m going to treat myself. A couple of us do it: Cena, Big Show, Triple H, Undertaker had a bus, Punk has a bus, Mysterio had a bus. When guys get to a point in their career where they feel they deserve it, if they can do it, they do it. I think, longevity wise, it’s going to put another five, six, seven, eight, maybe even more, years on my career. ”
How much longer will he wrestle: “I think the tank’s still pretty much full. What I try to do is every couple months take a weekend off. Sometimes with us time flies by and before you know it you haven’t had a day off, a good night’s sleep, in a long time. Your body needs that. Your mind needs that. When you have a family you got to find a week here and there throughout the year where you can just hang up the boots and be a dad, be a husband and not be traveling the world being a WWE superstar. Everybody needs that.”
What his time was like in the ring with Hulk Hogan: “It was great. It’s magical with him, guys that are over like that. If you get the chance to be in there with someone that well known, even though I think he had a hard time moving around, it didn’t matter. That’s how powerful that brand is. He showed it, back in 2005 I think it was.

Who was Daniel Bryan’s Favorite ROH Opponent?

by linda whitalker on June 8, 2013
Daniel Bryan revealed his favorite ROH opponent during a recent interview with John Corrigan of The Temple News.
“Despite him detaching my retina and giving me two concussions, I really liked working with (Takeshi) Morishima in ROH,” Bryan said. “But my favorite ROH rivalry was with Nigel McGuinness. Nigel was signed at the same time as me, but he had some shoulder and elbow stuff that didn’t clear WWE’s medical testing and now he’s out of the business altogether. It’s a loss because he’s great on interviews, in the ring, and really just a fun guy to be around.”
Bryan also talked about his expectations when he signed with WWE, being recognized and more. The article also contains quotes from WWE Hall of Famer Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as well.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts Talks 2014 Royal Rumble Return & More

by linda whitalker on June 8, 2013
Jake “The Snake” Roberts appeared on Wrestling Heels Radio. Here are some highlights.
Possibly returning at the 2014 Royal Rumble: “That’s my dream. That’s my dream. That’s nothing they’ve said. I’ve been wanting to go back, man. Whenever I started losing the weight, whenever I started seeing the world again, whenever I started seeing progress in myself, when I seen – when I started dreaming again, man, dreaming of not so much getting back to the ring, at first. The dreams at first were taking a walk. I went and actually walked up Stone Mountain, man, few months ago, and I could not do that years ago even when, you know, I was in wrestling form, you know? It was a very tough experience.”
Who he’d like to face in WWE: “I would wrestle Shane McMahon. I think I’d enjoy that, and I think it would be a match he could be proud of and that I could be proud of. There’s lots of other guys – a few other guys. I say lots, but there’s a few other guys I wouldn’t mind being in the ring with. I think I could do something spectacular with [John] Cena, but here’s the thing. I could do something spectacular with anybody ’cause Jake the Snake did that. I’ve proven that.”
CM Punk’s promos: “Well, he’s trying to slow it down, but he doesn’t get it yet. You know what, man? Here’s the thing. We’ll just throw this out here. WWE, Jake the Snake calling. I have a proposition, okay? Here’s my proposition. You give me five weeks. Give me an hour a week with five guys, and I will significantly change not only them but I will change the look of Raw, in five weeks. I will do it by simply talking to them, by sitting them underneath the learning tree if you will and just casting it out there, letting them absorb what I give and I won’t exactly remember everything I tell them that they’ll get enough to change your product significantly. Trust me. Ta da.”
DDP Yoga: “It’s incredible, Bro. It is just incredible. I mean all the years I spent in gyms and, believe it or not, I did work out. I mean, there was a lot of sacrificing going to gyms. There’s a lot of pain in trying to do too much weight ’cause you think that’s going to make you bigger. No, it’s going to – it might make you bigger for a short time until your injuries start to come up through it, but all those years, I was doing that stuff to my body and I didn’t have a clue as to what I was doing, man.
“Back then, a workout you went in the gym and you pushed as hard as you could with as much as you could, and, of course, you supplemented that with powders and pills and steroids. You do get bigger, but at the same time, you’re tearing your body apart, you know. See, god didn’t make us to carry 300 pounds on are back. It’s just been recently, in the last several years, that people have gotten into core strength, and that’s the most important part, man. I mean, it was such idiots not to have learned it sooner because, I mean, the biggest part of your body is the trunk of your body, your chest and your waist and your abs.
“That’s the biggest part, and if you start building power there, that feeds out into your arms and your legs, whereas before we’re out there just trying to make our arms bigger. So I’ll just move that. We’re not doing anything for our core strength, and our core strength is where the power comes from. So if you don’t build your power plan, you’re just wasting time, and it’s really – it aggravates me and chaps my ass. This workout is so much easier and you get twice the results It’s incredible. It’s not – you don’t have to make it impossible. My mother, she’s in a rest home. I’m trying to get her doing it because you can actually do it from a wheelchair. The upper-body stuff she could do, and working with the dynamic resistance, that’s the whole key, man.
“You make your body work against itself. So you’re not going to do too much because, you know, you can try as hard as you want. You can’t overdo it unless you start doing all these extreme things. So you start out slow and you build. There’s workouts there to fit every need, and there’s DVDs. There’s workouts there to fit, the psycho, could go for an hour and a half and then there’s workouts that works specifically, maybe, on your waist or whatever, that go 10, 15 minutes. And the results are just unbelievable. He never started this program thinking about weight loss. That wasn’t his – that wasn’t his directive. He wanted to do something to help with the injuries and to help with the core strength. Well, he did it, man, but then he goes into this eating plan and he won’t let you call it a diet because you’re not dieting. You’re getting much healthier, you know? First three letter of diet is die. No, man. We’re not dying.”

“I wouldn’t say I’m WWE for life, I’d say my near future will consist of me primarily being in the ring,” Orton said. “Wrestling is my first love. The movie was fun, but the schedule was grueling because I had to fly off on my off days to film. Eight weeks went by and I had three days off. If I do the movie thing, I’ll be sure that I’m only doing the movie so I can concentrate on it. (Laughs) I think I’d be more sane that way.”

Former WWE Superstar MVP told MLW Radio that he plans to return to U.S. television by the end of 2013. This does not necessarily mean WWE or TNA.
“I will be back on U.S. TV later this year. I promise. Not saying anything more than that. There are some people, that to them, wrestling is WWE. In the same way that to some people, any cola is a Coke. There is amazing wrestling going on all around the world outside of WWE.”
Also during the interview, MVP offered his thoughts Vince McMahon, the psyche of being in WWE, the retirement of Kenta Kobashi and much more.

Test Finally Added to WWE Alumni Roster Page

by linda whitalker on June 6, 2013 |
In recent years, WWE has generally shied away from spotlighting talent who succumbed to drug related causes as to not attract negative media attention. That is not the case today as WWE has added Test, who passed away on March 13, 2009 at the age of 33 as a result of an overdose of oxycodone, to its Alumni section.
WWE says of the six-time title holder, “He’s best remembered as the Superstar who nearly married Stephanie McMahon before Triple H ruined their plans, but there was much more to Test than one disastrous night at the altar. A deceptively agile big man who could knock off opponents with a boot to the face or a top rope elbow drop, Test claimed pinfall victories over major competitors like Edge, The Undertaker and The Rock while collecting multiple singles and tag titles.”
Test’s death is not acknowledged on the page, with his final stint in WWE for the relaunched ECW brand in 2006 and 2007 branded as an “exclamatory ending to Test’s career and lasting proof that he was something far more than just a jilted groom.”

Kid Kash Criticizes TNA Management in New Interview

by linda whitalker on June 6, 2013
KayfabeKickout interviewed former WWE, ECW & TNA Superstar Kid Kash. Here are some highlights.
Kash comments on what he’s been up to since leaving TNA in February 2013
“I just finished up a month long tour of the UK and will be going back in September for House of Grind. This isn’t your average training school. We’re doing a two day try out session on September 7th and 8th. If you survive that, which trust me a lot won’t, you’ll then be invited to join the school for 6 more months. Intensity doesn’t even begin to describe this training. The ones who complete the program will be putting on a live show. This mix of wrestling and MMA training isn’t being offered anywhere else in the UK.”
Kash was asked if he thinks TNA is similar to WCW in terms of a lack of leadership, and older stars still in top positions.
“I do. They just keep recycling the same people over and over and and don’t push the ones who have actual talent in the locker room. And unless they drastically raise their budget they’ll continue on the same path. They don’t pay like any other “it” company. ECW paid me twice the amount as TNA ever did and that’s the truth.”
Kash comments on if he thinks smaller wrestlers have received a bad rap for not being as over as larger wrestlers.
“I think that in the beginning TNA showed the true talent the smaller guys had which made the show, then somewhere in that 10 years that shifted. As far as talent we have it. With bigger guys there will be one out of 100 who have actual working ability. The thing I do know in this business is if the promoter wants you over to sell seats you will be. That’s up to the promoter. Politics is so crazy that if one person in the booking committee doesn’t agree, they don’t waste time and shit can it. There’s no hashing it out or working on it, it’s just done. They may bring it up again, but until that one pushes it you’ll be that shelf wrestler.”

Daniel Bryan Booked for WWE Title Shot Against John Cena, One Idea for Kaitlyn’s Admirer

by linda whitalker on June 6, 2013

- WWE officials have very big plans for Daniel Bryan this summer. Right now, Bryan vs. WWE Champion John Cena is the penciled in main event for the July 14th Money in the Bank pay-per-view from Philadelphia.
Word is that it will be a babyface vs. babyface match. WWE officials are fully aware that Bryan will be heavily cheered in Philadelphia. The feeling is that officials won’t try to turn Bryan heel but that may change.

WWE Legends House Update, Backstage News on Daniel Bryan & Dean Ambrose, More

by linda whitalker on June 6, 2013
For the week ending May 19th, which was its first week being released, the WrestleMania 29 DVD was #9 on the overall sales charts. It ranked #1 on the sports charts. The DVD set sold 49,146 units for $982,489 in its first week.
- WWE’s George Barrios recently denied reports that WWE was looking to put Legends House on cable TV this year because it’s a show for the WWE Network, when it launches.
Word is that recently, WWE officials were shopping the show around to networks because they didn’t want it to become dated since there’s no confirmed start date for the WWE Network. When none of the networks wanted the show, WWE’s official story changed back to the show being a WWE Network exclusive.
- WWE Hall of Famer Edge used to be considered one of the best at putting together a match among his peers. Among the current group of WWE stars, CM Punk and Chris Jericho have that reputation but it’s said that Daniel Bryan is starting to get it. Of the newer guys, Dean Ambrose is starting to develop a good reputation.

“Sup Tweeple?!! Longer day than expected. Guardians is going to be insane! I’m about to pass out but fuck it! Q n A 4 5! GO!! And I apologize in advance for not being able to answer everyone.. And I’ll use my E.S.P. and go and answer the question I’m asked everyday all GD day… I don’t know when or if I will ever go back to wrestle!! I would love to but there’s a ton of other factors that I would have to weigh in. Shit like..how much will I be fined if I bleed? And who would I work with? And will I have the freedom to other things that I want to accomplish in life? Ya Know?!! ..but I do mss it. And I miss the fans alot. Even the dipshits who boo me and make up BS about me and smear it all over the iternet. Anyway..5 , GO!!!!”
Batista then replied to a fan about not going to TNA:
“BS my friend! Said it before and I’ll say it again, I bleed WWE! Wouldn’t want 2 be anywhere else. And I’ve had plenty offers”
Batista also commented on WWE Superstar Titus O’Neil. In a recent interview, Titus credited Batista with why he’s in pro wrestling now. A fan on Twitter asked Batista if it was true that he was O’Neil’s neighbor and if it was true he got him to join WWE. Batista replied:
“I did’t make him…I just encouraged him. I love that dude and he deserves huge success! #hardworker”

Bound For Glory Ticket On-Sale Date , JR Blog

by linda whitalker on June 3, 2013
TNA announced that tickets for this year’s Bound For Glory PPV will go on-sale this Friday morning. The PPV takes place on 10/20 at the Viejas Arena located on the campus of San Diego State University.
- Jim Ross has posted a new blog over at JRsBarBQ.com, below are some highlights:
Happy to see that @HeelZiggler is getting better after sustaining a major concussion but he’s still not ready to step back into he ring until he passes a battery of medical tests and is thoroughly evaluated by WWE medical personnel. Back in the territory wrestling days, Ziggler would have likely returned already because promoters only paid wrestlers when they worked. Wrestler health and safety wasn’t a huge priority in past generations of the territorial system or so it seemed to me.
RAW last week had an increased freshness to it. If one looks back a year ago you will find many talents who were not on the RAW radar but today are prominent on the WWE’s flagship broadcast.
Speaking recently on Bray Wyatt’s “2nd gear” that some did not understand it is essentially the same thing as a great, defensive lineman in the NFL being able to explode off the ball and then change gears again when needed to make a play. It’s not something that every athlete, no matter their size, possesses. Wyatt’s grandfather, WWE HOFer Blackjack Mulligan was a massive beast who was once recruited to play college football by the legendary Bear Bryant along with football coaching legend Bum Phillips so athleticism runs in the family. Wyatt’s father, Mike Rotunda was an outstanding, two sport star at Syracuse in football and in wrestling. So the bottom line is that Bray Wyatt has good athletic DNA.
Nonetheless the level of success that the Wyatt Family achieves is going to be largely up to them and not the family scrapbook. I like the trio and feel that they will contribute quickly once they arrive in WWE on RAW or Smackdown. I’d also assume that we will see another Wyatt Family vignette on RAW this week.
I’d also assume that we will see more of the on going breakout build continue for Curtis Axel who’s now being mentored by Paul Heyman. @RealKingRegal and I have both said for months that, after seeing various Curtis Axel matches on NXT, that the 3rd generation athlete was ready for something significant. However, even though a talent is ‘ready’ there has be be a place for him or her to make an impactful entry or re-entrance to RAW or Smackdown.
Pairing Axel with @HeymanHustle is highly strategic and having the young Minnesota native face HHH and John Cena his first two weeks on RAW has people talking. That’s more than they were doing when the kid was named McGillicutty.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Takes Aim at Tony Romo

by linda whitalker on June 3, 2013
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin sounded off on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The rattlesnake questioned Romo’s leadership, and said that while Romo has all the physical tools, “he just needs to do some brain work.”
“My problem with Dallas is I think Tony Romo is a damn good quarterback, but he sh-ts the bed at the most inopportune times,” Austin said. “So when I look for leadership, I can’t say that Tony Romo is the clear-cut leader.”
Mainstream media outlets have picked up on Austin’s comments, including FOX Sports, USA Today, The London Free Press and The Toronto Sun.

WWE Creative Team Stressed Out Going Into Tonight’s RAW

by linda whitalker on June 3, 2013
WWE is currently hiring for a new lead creative writer. This person would be responsible for building TV scripts and developing long-term storylines as well as character back stories for new talents. WWE is requiring that this person have experience in either reality TV, sitcoms or character-based nonfiction.
On a related note, apparently the WWE writing team is under major stress right now because of the feeling that there’s a good chance this week’s RAW rating won’t be good. Things didn’t get any better when they realized they were going up against game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals tonight.’

Dean Ambrose on Who Came Up With “The Shield” Concept

by linda whitalker on June 2, 2013
WWE United States Champion Dean Ambrose recently spoke with Phil Strum of The Poughkeepsie Journal. Here are highlights:
Phil Strum: The Shield is one of the most successful acts in WWE in years. To you, what’s made it so good and what’s made it connect with the audience so well.
Dean Ambrose: We’re three guys who are very confident in what we can do and we’re not dilly-dallying around. We know how good we are. We want to go out there and really try to grab the bull by the horns. The way we look it, it’s like this company is ours for the taking. The company wants young guys to step up and it’s like ‘I don’t care we’re taking over.’
A lot of veterans and the office have wanted guys to have that kind of attitude. We’re not afraid and we’re not intimidated. In our minds, we are the main event. Being fresh and being new, no one’s seen our faces before on TV. Maybe they knew me and Seth before we were on TV. Roman is a natural and he keeps getting better every day. We have so much talent and so much confidence in our ability. We came in and we were already on the level and we can already go.
PS: Do you know who came up with the concept for The Shield? Was it originally supposed to branch off so much from the attack on Ryback or did it just grow sort of organically?
DA: I can tell you it’s been an ever-evolving process. I don’t think we knew where we wanted to go. Every week, it’s been a new idea. An on-the-fly idea. Coming out of the crowd was not a pre-planned, premeditated idea that someone came up with in a meeting room. Everything has kind of organically evolved. Instead of coming through the entrance way, we wanted to make a statement to people that what you see is not like every other WWE superstar, every other normal wrestler. It was done to separate ourselves. We’re not like everyone in the back. We’re completely different and more dangerous and something you’ve got to keep your eyes on.
Everything from the moves we do to the things we wear to the things we say, all of them have been on the fly. We’re making it up as we go along. If something feels natural, we do it. If somebody says a good line, it’s like, hey I like that line, let’s go with it. Or someone does a good move, hey I like that move, let’s do that again. It’s been an on-the job process. You’re watching it unfold with your eyes as much as we are and I think that’s one of the exciting things for the fans.
PS: What was it like being in the ring on SmackDown and staring across at The Undertaker?
DA: Being across from The Undertaker is a very surreal experience. It felt like it must have been a dream. On the other other hand, this is a window that’s only open for who knows how long and how quickly it’s going to close. You better take advantage of it. I’m not intimidated by any scenario, whether it’s The Undertaker or John Cena or anybody. We’re going to do this. At this level, it’s kind of like the fight or flight kind of thing. All of us are kind of put in a position where you don’t get intimidated by the magnitude or the pressure of it. You don’t feel it. You feel the aura of The Undertaker. He has a presence. This is the most legendary guy you’re standing across the ring from and as big of an opponent as you can get. It’s like winning the lottery and I’m not about to not cash my lottery ticket in. You have ice water running through your veins. You’re out of your mind. It’s funny. The music’s playing. The pyro’s going off. It’s The Undertaker’s music. But once the bell rings and you make physical contact, it starts to work and the world shrinks down to a 20-by-20 ring and it’s any other match really and you have to stay on your game once the bell rings.

Sunny Comments on Being the First Ever Diva

by linda whitalker on June 2, 2013
Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, who was recently released from a Connecticut prison after serving a four-month sentence for repeatedly violating terms of a restraining order filed by her former boyfriend, touted her trailblazing ways in a Facebook post this week.
With so many females vying for roles as “Divas” in WWE these days, the self-proclaimed “Original Diva” says she’s pleased to have redefined the role of women in the sports-entertainment organization.
“I find it fascinating that so many women now stesrive to be a WWE diva,” Sytch wrote. “Im so happy I helped make that occupation a glamourous one, back in the prehistoric days of not-so-glamourous lady wrestlers.”
In the past, Sytch has labeled the women who came before her as “one dimensional.” She once told WWE.com, “Then I came along and anything they threw at me I could do. I could get in the ring and have a match, I managed at ringside, I co-hosted TV shows, I did broadcasting, I did the modeling. I was the first one.”
She added, “My definition of a Diva is that all-around, well-rounded performer.”

Dean Ambrose on What He’d Be Doing If He Wasn’t Wrestling & More

by linda whitalker on June 1, 2013
As noted earlier, Dean Ambrose spoke to The Bower Show on ESPN Radio in Hartford, CT to promote this Monday’s Raw. Here are some highlights from the interview.
When he realized he wanted to be a wrestler: “There was never a specific moment with me where I turned the corner, said this is the moment where I knew I was going to become a wrestler. I just knew that that was the direction I was going to go for as long as my memory can go back. I didn’t know how it was going to come about. I didn’t know if there were wrestling schools. I figured there just had to be some way. I was relaxed about it. I just knew somewhere, somehow that I was going to end up being a wrestler. I just somehow in the back of my mind knew that’s what I was going to do.”
What he’d be doing if he wasn’t wrestling: “That’s a really hard question to say. I’ve never been deep enough into anything else to be able to picture myself doing anything else. I started wrestling when I was 16 and this has been my life ever since then. I’ve been traveling the world, traveling the country. Getting better, learning, meeting people. This becomes your life really quickly and it’s hard to see any life outside of this. I’m sure there’s a lot of things I would be good at, I’m really talented, but I can’t picture myself doing anything else.”
On William Regal saying that he is everyone’s perfect opponent for the next 10 years: “I’m everybody’s perfect opponent? Does that mean I’m just going to get beat up for the next 10 years? [laughter] There’s high praise from a guy I have a lot of respect for. It was a real pleasure getting to work with him and really getting to have a really fleshed out feud with him that nobody really saw because, it was on TV in Florida on developmental, but it was [not televised elsewhere]. It was very cool to hear words like that from a guy like that. When I get stuff like that it’s still kind of surreal because these are guys that I studied and grew up watching. To be on a level with them where we can talk on the same level about stuff is still kind of surreal for me.”
What’s next for The Shield: “We’re just going to keep upping the intensity of the game. I think we’re bringing a lot of energy, a lot of excitement and a lot of unpredictability that may not have been there before. I think we’re fresh and different right now. I think we’re upping the ante and raising everybody else’s game. We’re performing at such a high level now that everyone else is trying to keep up. So we’re just going to keep running harder, running faster, serving justice where it needs to be served and everybody else is going to have to try and keep up with us.”

Orton Comments on Wyatt & Axel’s Main Roster Debuts

by linda whitalker on June 1, 2013
During a recent interview conducted for IGN.com, WWE star Randy Orton had the following to say regarding the influx of new talent brought up to the main roster in recent weeks:
“Well, I’m used to calling him ‘Husky,’ but Bray [Wyatt's] vignettes are awesome. And the other two guys down there in FCW, who are part of his team, are talented. That little group there looks great. I have no idea what we’re in for but those vignettes have everyone’s heads turning backstage. And wrestling is in Bray’s blood. He’s the son of Mike Rotunda – I.R.S. But Curtis Axel is third generation too. And so I think there’s been a lot of pressure on Joe [Hennig] just being the son of ‘Mr. Perfect’ Curt Hennig. I mean, how can there not be a lot of pressure? No disrespect to my father, but Mr. Perfect was around a little more and maybe had more of a following. So people might be more aware of who his father was and because of that I think he has a lot more to live up to. And that whole ‘Michael McGillicutty’ thing? That was just career suicide. But he made it through that. And I think anyone who can make it through having a name like ‘McGillicutty’ for however many years he had it is a survivor. The fact that he made it through shows you that the kid’s got some staying power. And now with Paul Heyman in his back pocket? golden. Give him a couple weeks, a couple months, and he’ll make a big impact.”

Bret Hart Apologizes for Pat Patterson Gay Joke, Angle on Austin’s Podcast

by linda whitalker on May 31, 2013
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin announced on Twitter that he’ll be in the studio today interviewing Olympic Gold Medalist & TNA star Kurt Angle for a new episode of his Steve Austin Show podcast. - WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has apologized for a joke he made about Pat Patterson during the Bret Hart Appreciation celebration that took place after Monday’s WWE RAW. While Pat Patterson was calling Bret the greatest Canadian wrestler in history, he got on one knee to salute him. Bret said something to the effect of, he gets scared when Pat, an open homosexual, gets on his knees.
Apparently Bret got some backlash for the joke, as he tweeted today:
“I sincerely apologize to anyone that was in any way offended by my in-ring joke to Pat Patterson on Monday, especially to Pat … whom I hold in the highest regard. I was only trying to take some of the edge off an emotionally challenging moment and I failed. The comment does not in any way reflect my feelings toward the gay and lesbian community. B”

Christopher Daniels: “This is TNA’s first time in Boston,” said Bully Ray. “This is enemy territory. I’m a New Yorker from Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. I’m a New York Yankee fan. I’m overlooking Fenway, standing atop the Green Monster, and I feel like the evil emperor . . . Our roster is second to none. When you put us in the ring and really give us the chance to go, we deliver. We’re looking to steal the show this Sunday.”….

Fandango Talks About Original Plans for His Character & More

by linda whitalker on May 31, 2013
Johnny Curtis, the man behind WWE’s Fandango gimmick, recently spoke to CT.com to promote next week’s RAW. Here are some highlights: I’m going to fast-forward ahead to when you finally got on the main roster in WWE after NXT. When you were doing the idioms gimmick with the spilled milk before Fandango came along, where’d you think your career in WWE was going?
I wasn’t really exactly sure where they were going with those vignettes. I was willing to do anything to get on TV. Obviously, I wouldn’t disagree or argue with any verbiage they’re going to give me for talking. Wasn’t exactly sure where that was going to go. I don’t if necessarily that was the way they wanted the vignettes to go. Obviously, they scratched it, and then I went back on the shelf for a little while [until] the Fandango thing.
The huge story with you nowadays is the phenomenon of everybody singing the theme music. What was your initial thoughts when it first happened when you were in the ring on that post-WrestleMania Raw in early April?
I almost started smiling when they were doing it just because that Monday Night Raw was unbelievable. For me being a wrestling fan, that was one of those crowds that kind of reminds me of the old ECW [Extreme Championship Wrestling] arena where the fans became part of the show. Anyone that got to go out there that Monday night after ‘Mania got to enjoy that crowd. First thought in my head was, ‘Oh, can we make some money off of this?’ That’s all I thought about honestly. We did the Europe tour right after that. The Raw after ‘Mania we went to Europe for two weeks on tour, and just the crowd reaction over there was unbelievable, so maybe I’m like the new Hasselhoff where I’m just big over in Europe. [Laughs]
When the Fandango character was first pitched to you, what terms was it pitched under? After a few weeks, a few months getting used to it, did it turn out to be what you expected or what was pitched to you in the first place?
Initially, Vince [McMahon] had an idea of a male stripper. We kind of did that in a few dark matches as simply Johnny Curtis. It was like a Dirty Dancing, kind of Swayze deal. I think they saw it and realized real quick that it’s a little risky. It was Fandango a little more sexy, a little not quite PG. Vince had an idea to do the ballroom thing, and I embraced it, man. Thing is, if you can play a hard character, a real complicated character like this or the Undertaker — anything that’s really far out there — I think you can make money with it if you really embrace it, you know what I’m saying? If you just go into it not really into it, people are going to see right through it and see just a guy playing a character [and] not really into it. I’m like, ‘This is an opportunity I’ve been waiting for for 13, 14 years. I either gotta really embrace this thing or just go back to working for EWA in Maine making 50 bucks a night.’

Why Does Mark Henry Have Heat with WWE Creative

by linda whitalker on May 30, 2013
There is huge heat on Mark Henry right now from WWE’s creative side. They had a storyline planned for him but after his match with Sheamus at Extreme Rules, or at some point in the last week, Henry said he was banged up and needed to take time off due to injuries.
As a general rule, while WWE says they want people to rest when hurt, they usually push them to stick around unless it’s something major like concussions or neck or knee issues. There’s a feeling that they did a lot to build Henry up, get him hot again and then he’s leaving to take time off. He has heat for taking a significant amount of time off without undergoing surgery. As of Wednesday, WWE’s official word is that Henry needing surgery hasn’t been determined yet.
Henry’s taking time off is the reason for JBL’s “took his ball and went home” references on RAW

WWE Signs Cory Weston, What Is WWE Doing with New Talent Signed?, Recent WWE Attendance Figures

* RAW on May 26th in Lethbridge, Alberta drew 1,750 fans for $60,000
* SmackDown on May 26th in Medicine Hat, Alberta drew 1,200 fans for $50,000

Regarding all the new talents being signed by WWE, they are all reporting to developmental in July, once the new Performance Center in Orlando is ready. ROH star Mike Bennett is still expected to be one of WWE’s new signings.

Reason Behind Big E Langston vs. Alberto Del Rio Matches, WWE SMS and Main Event Ratings

by linda whitalker on May 30, 2013

- The May 15th episode of WWE Main Event did a 0.9 cable rating with 1.31 million viewers.
- The reason Big E Langston and Alberto Del Rio have been wrestling a lot lately is because of Dolph Ziggler being out. They were forced to wrestle again at this week’s WWE TV tapings because Jack Swagger wasn’t allowed into Canada due to his legal troubles.

We have been assured that should Del Sol win the title, he will be back on the July 27th and July 28th events in New York City to defend the belt. Could we see The Summer Of Del Sol?”

WWE.com is now saying that Kingston will have to undergo surgery to fix his damaged elbow. As WWE puts it, this was already an injury that Kingston had, and that Ryback “furthered” the damage. Obviously, this was a way for WWE to write off Kingston from television for the next 4-8 weeks.

Taeler Hendrix Talks About Controversial Lesbian Angle

by linda whitalker on May 27, 2013
Taeler Hendrix returned to The Greg DeMarco Show. Here are some highlights from the interview.
On waiting to be called up to the main roster for TNA Impact Wrestling: “If I knew what it was, I’d be doing it. … I am doing everything I possibly can—I feel like I am that hidden gem that’s just waiting to be found. … It’s been extremely difficult [being patient] … If Gut Check was the stepping stone to reach the rest of your dreams. … There’s a certain element of risk…but if you if you’re not willing to go big you might as well go home. … It’s been tough but as long as I keep a positive outlook on it, it doesn’t seem as bad.”
On the influence Trish Stratus had on her and the up & coming women today: “I think the people who say Trish Stratus wasn’t that good … We live in America and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. … Their opinions are not fact. Trish Stratus is one of the best—if not the best females in pro wrestling. And just because she’s not there now doesn’t discount what she did. She didn’t have to work as hard as she did, but she did. Just like Mickie James worked hard, just like Tara worked hard, Gail [Kim] worked hard. Hard work pays off, it’s not just about looks. … Trish Stratus had the look and the talent and she performed—no one is going to take that away from her.”
On the controversial love story with Heidi Lovelace: Um, isn’t every guy’s fantasy a threesome? … It’s really hard to tell people what I’m feeling as far as Heidi Lovelace because in Kentucky it’s really frowned upon. … I nearly wanted to throw up at first. … But you know, I can’t lie, the thought of it sounded really appealing, something fresh and something new, and I’m excited to see where this goes. … Absolutely [the storyline should be getting more attention], girls don’t get enough exposure in this business. … I definitely think this should have more exposure because it’s relatable to lots of people. … Almost everything in professional wrestling has been done. … I’m an entertainer—I’ve always wanted to entertain people. I’ve always said I’m the Bette Davis of pro wrestling. … This is a storylines that takes the girls in Ohio Valley Wrestling to a different level. It gives us something to play with and explore.”
Taeler also gives her thoughts on Bully Ray vs. Sting and Gail Kim vs. Taryn Terrell at TNA’s Slammiversary pay-per-view, the competitiveness amongst the women in OVW as they all vie for the same coveted television roles and much more.

Jack Swagger Says Winning a Championship a Second Time Is Harder

by linda whitalker on May 27, 2013
Here are some highlights of a new storyline interview Jack Swagger did in the new issue of WWE Magazine:
What are Colter’s strongest qualities? What do you think are the things about him that are taking you to the next level?
Zeb Colter is certainly a man of great conviction and passion. He has so much conviction and passion for the things that he says and the things that he actually believes in—and those are the types of things people really take hold of. They make people believers. And, of course, Zeb has decades upon decades of experience, which Jack Swagger directly benefits from: the knowledge and the tutelage. Honestly, that kind of experience translates through me, and it gives me that extra little oomph that I need in order to get over the hill to the top of the mountain.
Let’s talk about the World Heavyweight Title. If 2013 sees you recapture the gold, what will you do to make sure your title run makes more of an impact than your previous one?
Winning the championship the second time in any sport, whether it’s wrestling, football, basketball or baseball is definitely harder. Once you get there, staying there, and staying relevant and being able to make an impact, is tough. I worked very hard last time, but maybe I wasn’t working smart.
That’s surprising. It would seem like the opposite is true—that your first experience would make it easier the second time around, no?
I truly believe that it is harder to win the second one because you already have that target on your back, and people are looking for you a little bit more. But then, once you get there, the experience can help. Getting back is the big challenge.
How are you more of a “Real American” than Hulk Hogan?
I think I’m more of a real American than Hulk Hogan because he was doing what he did for the Hulkamaniacs. Not everyone is a Hulkamaniac. I’m doing this for all of America. I’m putting the country on my broad shoulders and carrying them to the promised land. America needs a Real American now more than ever.

Ivelisse Velez Talks About Her FCW & NXT Experience

by linda whitalker on May 25, 2013
Ivelisse Velez was recently interviewed by Greg and Patrick O’Dowd of The Greg DeMarco Show. Here are some highlights.
Her character traits: “I am a very assertive person … in a man’s world they’re not very used to that. … A woman being assertive and not being walked over. … Maybe it came from that, I don’t know.”
Her release from the WWE: “It was a very hard experience in the sense that a lot of the things that were on TV or things that didn’t make TV that probably should have. … I’m very grateful that opportunity, but I feel, honestly, that it could have portrayed in a little bit more realistic way of how things really happened. … they never showed the diagnosis of my leg, then I ended up looking like a wimp. … Nobody ended up knowing the gravity of the injury to my leg. … I was going to continue … Doctor [had to tell me] that I can’t continue or they have to tear my leg off. … You tell them because I am not going to, because I’ll rip my leg off and then I can’t have a career.”
Her FCW/NXT experience: “It’s really frustrating to hear that [that you're ready to be on television] and then you don’t [get used on television]. … That was mostly the hardest part. … You feel so ready but it’s a whole different ballgame—it’s not just having the skills or the talent or the look. You can have I all but there’s so much more to it there. … We’re all human and sometimes people make mistakes, and people sometimes mix personal with business and you get the backlash of that. It took me a long time to register what happened. … It’s tough.”
Her TNA Gut Check tryout: “Definitely it was a surprise to me as well. … In my head I thought there was no reason for me not to. I felt that Lei D’Tapa was great, too, and she has a lot of potential. At least I thought I was ready now. … They would have benefited from signing us both. … I’m happy for Lei D’Tapa, she’s a great girl, she’s humble. … I’m sure everyone felt like TNA could’ve benefited from both of us. … The whole thing, they were really good at that—at all moments, we never knew. … I had no clue what was going to happen at any moment. … Everyone knows both of these girls should be here. … That was my real reaction, I was just speechless. … When I heard that crowd…I feel like, equally, we both created that with our hard work into the match. … It wasn’t just her! … And then I didn’t even make it to the ring. … I was like “damn, really?” … From wrestlers and fans, it was a big reaction. A lot of people agreed that both of us had a lot to bring to the table. The only difference is I could bring it now. … I’m ready now.”
Ivelisse also talked about her return to TNA, going back home to Puerto Rico to win a championship for WWL, being a member of Shine Wrestling’s Valkyrie & her upcoming match for Shine Wrestling at Shine 10 and the origin of her “Huntress” persona.

Bob Holly Talks About Suffering Injuries While Wrestling

by linda whitalker on May 23, 2013
“Hardcore” Bob Holly spoke with Kayfabe Wrestling Radio Tuesday night. Here are some highlights from the interview.
On writing the book: “It never occurred to me that it was a bad idea. The only thing that occurred to me, the whole 18 months it took to write this, is nobody’s gonna want to read my book; nobody’s gonna want it. I mean, I was just a midcard guy, you know, and it was like ‘Who is going to want to read my story? I mean, there’s nothing exciting about me.’ So, that’s what ran through my mind, and then after we edited it over and over because we’d send it back to ECW Press and then they’d send it back and we’d have to edit and do this and do that to it and after reading it many times over; every time we read it over, it was still interesting. So that’s when it occurred to me, ‘Hey, maybe people will find this interesting.’ Because, every time a read a chapter, it still captivated me and it still does; when I pick up my book and see what somebody had read and they talk about it and I go back and look at it, I end up reading the whole chapter again. And that’s what made me think that maybe people will want to buy this and read it. So, it was a lot of work too, but it was fun and it had its times where it reminded me of certain bad times and stuff like that. But, it was a good experience, it really was.”
His pre-WWF/E days and his bar fighting past for money: “You know, it’s funny because when I was writing that part, it was like it brought back; you’re not going to believe this, and you’re going to think I’m full of it, but it was fun to me. Those were exciting times to me because I’m the kind of guy that likes a challenge and I would go into bars and it’s like; ok, I find the toughest guy in there and I’d want to put up money to fight the guy. I just found it, the thrill of the fight, exciting to me and to this day I still do because I won’t turn down a challenge to anybody and I find myself. When the whole MMA/UFC thing came along and it’s like if that came around when I was a little bit younger, I think I would have ended up going that direction because I love the thrill of the fight; I love the challenge, no matter who it is I end up fighting with. So, when I look back on that, those were fun times for me; I had really enjoyed that and I made money doing that. It’s an odd way to make money, but it was what I had to do to survive. And that’s why I look at it like ‘Yeah, that was exciting to me’.”
His experience with Auto Racing: “Well, the thing about auto racing is you gotta know all the right people. I raced at a local level and then, when I got into the WWE and I got to know the right people and I got connected with Hermie and Elliot Sadler, who are involved with NASCAR to this day; I was too far into my (wrestling) career to just say ‘You know what, I’m going to go. I’m going to start racing instead of wrestling.’ Because racing, it’s based on performance; I mean, if you’re not performing, you’re gone. You have to have a lot of money behind you and a good team behind you. So, it’s a very tough business to make it in. And like I said, when I was doing the local stuff, I know all the right people or anything and I was just enjoying what I was doing at the local level, and then when the WWF called me to come up and start wrestling for them and, of course, when you work for them you meet all kinds of people all over the world. Then, of course, when I met Hermie and Elliot, I got back into racing part-time, just once or twice a month on my days off.
“It could have escalated into more, but I was too far into my WWE career and that’s when we were into the Attitude Era when things were really good; the money was really good, so it was hard to say ‘Ok, I’m going to stop doing this, take a chance and start racing and see if I can make it there because if I hadn’t made it in racing, then I would have lost out on the Attitude Era, if you understand what I’m saying. I didn’t want to take that chance because I was having too much fun during the Attitude Era wrestling and making great money. Of course, it didn’t matter where you were on the card; if you were opening match, mid card; of course Main Event makes big money, but even when you were the opening match, you still made great money. So, that would have been really hard to give up to go take a chance in auto racing, where there is no money unless you get to the Cup Level. So, I think I did the best for my career, I did what I wanted to do and I still got to race and stuff like that, so I enjoyed that and I didn’t have the stress, the pressure to perform in auto racing. We just did it at the fun level; went to different tracks around the Southeast and there was no pressure or whatever; we just went out there, had a great time and raced and then got on a plane and flew to wherever I had to go wrestle. I did what I wanted to do and I never considered going full-time racing; you gotta be damn good you better have the right people backing you.”
His “Spark” Plugg gimmick: “I had graciously bowed out of Smokey Mountain and, like I said, I appreciate Cornette using me and giving me an opportunity to wrestle there. So, I went back to work, and I thought ‘You know what? I’m just going to focus on my job; I’ve got a great job, I make really good money, I’ve got insurance so I’m set.’ And I got my weekends off so I could go race wherever I want to because I had a race car at the time. So, I came home from work one day a couple months down the road and of course there was a message on the machine from J.J. Dillon wanting to talk to me. So, of course, I call him back and I was pretty damn excited, so they arraigned for me to fly up to Connecticut, to meet with him and Vince (McMahon).
“So, I flew up there, met with them and everything; met with them for about an hour and they said ‘Ok, we’ll send you a contract in the mail within the next week or so.’ And I’m like ‘Ok, Cool’; I had no idea what my name was going to be, I just thought, you know, I was going to be Bob Holly something or whatever, cause that’s the name I’ve always had And so, I get my contract in the mail and I open it up and the first thing I see is “Thurman ‘Sparky’ Plugg”, and I’m like ‘You’ve GOT to be freaking kidding me!’ I’m like ‘Wow’ but then it sunk in and it’s like ‘Ok, you know what, it doesn’t matter what they call me; I’ve finally made it to the top, so you just roll with it. A lot of people have made fun of that “Thurman ‘Sparky’ Plugg” but they were in the same position, they would not have turned WWE down because of the name, I guarantee that! I thought you know, because everything back then was cartoon characters-type gimmicks and I just thought well, this is just something of that or whatever because I was a race car driver that they wanted to go with that. And J.J. Dillon was the one who actually came up with the name. But again, I’m also thankful for that name; yeah, I didn’t like it but it gave me my start to a long career in WWE. So, it’s kinda embarrassing but then again I’m kinda thankful for that, also. And then I thought, well, let me get my foot in the door and hopefully I’ll get comfortable in stuff where I can approach Vince and say ‘Hey, can we do something about this?’
“So, probably about six months down the road, I went to Vince and I’s like, ‘Vince, is there anything we can do to change my name?’ And I was scared to death to go in there and ask him; I thought, here I am six months in the company, I’m new, and this guy is asking Vince to change my name. I thought for sure, he’s going to let me go. But that was the chance I had to take, so when I went into the office and said ‘Hey Vince. I appreciate you’ve given me this opportunity here, and I’m really grateful to you for that, but can we change my name?’ and he’s like ‘Fine. What do you want to change it to?’ And now I’m like ‘Oh, wow. Ok, this is pretty easy.’ So, I said how about Bob Holly. He said ‘Ok, that’s fine. What we’ll do, to make the transition, we’ll call you Bob “Spark Plug’ Holly.’ And I said ‘Hey, that’s better than nothing. I’ll take it.’ So, we went from there and then, of course, eventually we got to drop the ‘Spark Plug’ and I was just Bob Holly after that. So, that’s how all that came about.”
His laundry list of injuries and if it’s just part of being a wrestler: “Another day in the office. You know, to me, it was my job and the mindset I’ve always lived by is ‘If I’m still walking, that’s no reason why I can’t finish what I have to do.’ That’s always been my mindset; I don’t go on TV and cry over a black eye and a bloody lip and cry on national television and want to quit because I got a black eye or bloody lip or I got my arm broken or my neck broke or my back slashed. I never went on TV and cried ‘I’m going to quit; it’s just too rough for me’, I’ve always had the old adage ‘If I can walk, I’m going to finish what I have to do in this ring, no matter what’. No matter how bad it hurts, I’ve got a job to do. If I’ve got to get somebody over, I’m not going to cheat them out of getting their win or help getting them over because that was my job. That’s my job: to help this guy look good and no matter what, that’s what I’m going to do. If I can walk, I’m going to finish my match.”

by linda whitalker on May 22, 2013
Ivelisse Velez was recently interviewed by Wrestling Smash Radio. Here are some highlights.
“On her TNA Gut Check tryout: “Definitely it was a surprise to me as well.
“On her release from the WWE: “The release … the rumors, they’re just rumors … no matter what I say, I could say it 100 times: no I don’t have a bad attitude … I know for sure that since day one since I started my career I always seek to approach my work as professional as possible. I’ve heard it all. … People close to me, people that work with me can testify to that … my work is everything to me, it’s all I know. I gave up scholarships from school and I was an honor student and I gave up all of it to go on this voyage with complete odds against me … Of course I’m going to approach it with all my heart.”

by linda whitalker on May 22, 2013
Depending on whether or not The Rock decides to return to wrestling, Brock Lesnar may return to WWE TV later this year to begin a feud with either Rock or The Undertaker.

While nobody knows if The Rock will return yet, Vince McMahon and others in the company feel that he will be feeling better this fall and agree to work WrestleMania XXX against Lesnar.
